Yoga Classes/Intro to yoga 5 week course
This beginner yoga class is perfect for anyone who has never tried yoga or meditating before as well as anyone who is experienced but wants to deepen their knowledge of alignment as well as deepen their meditation practice. Knowledge of proper alignment in yoga is so important to prevent injury and allow students to get the most out of each posture. Classes are slow paced, more time will be spent in each pose to understand the postures and possible modifications for different levels or injuries. Optional hands-on adjustments are offered to deepen the experience and ensure safe execution of each pose. Each class is maxed out at 5 students and you’ll be with the same group of people throughout the 5-weeks. This not only helps us create a sense of community but ensures each student gets more individual attention and has more time to ask questions if needed.
Each class begins with a short 10-15 minute meditation combined with breathing techniques (pranayama). Both of which activate the parasympathetic nervous system, in charge of healing and calming the body and have been proven to relieve stress, lower anxiety, aid with depression, boost the immune system, and have many more amazing benefits! After meditation students are guided through a 45-min yoga class where the focus is on linking conscious breathing with a mindful sequence of postures, followed by an extended rest period (savasana) approx. 15-20 min, where Alisa offers aromatherapy and thai massage to deepen the experience of this restful posture. Savasana is where most of our growth actually happens! We need to give our bodies time to rest and experience the benefits of the hard work during class. This is an educational series as well, so each week will offer different chapters of yogic history ad philosophy, and will build off of the previous week — attendance each week is highly recommended, no make ups!
Private Yoga Instruction
Private classes will begin with a short consultation of your experience, goals, and needs related to yoga. These classes are wonderful because you’ll receive individual attention so that Alisa may be able to best lead you towards reaching your goals. While classes will normally follow the same timeline as group classes (15 minute meditation – 45 minute flow – 15 minute savasana), you’ll be able to modify and request certain postures or meditations according to what you specifically need at that time, and you’ll be given more time with hands-on adjustments to help you fully experience the benefits of each pose.
